To become a Diplomate of the NDBA, you must pass a written examination, offered at each of ADSA's meetings: Chicago in December, Las Vegas in February and the ADSA Annual Session in April.

  • How To Earn Diplomate Status

    To become a Diplomate of the NDBA, one must pass a written examination, offered at each of ADSA's meetings: Chicago in December, Las Vegas in February and the ADSA Annual Session in April.

  • Is this a good practice exam for ABOMS/ADBA?

    Yes, the three (3) hour written examination assesses the candidate's knowledge of the scientific basis of anesthesia, including such areas as pharmacology, physiology and pathophysiology, and patient monitoring. This makes it an excellent examination to take before ABOMS/ADBA.



  • What are the requirements to take the exam?

    1. Active membership in the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology.


    2. Graduation from a College of Dentistry accredited by the Council on Dental Education of the American Dental Association or one approved by the Board of Directors of the ADSA.


    3. Final year of: a. Continuous full-time participation in a Residency in Dental Anesthesiology Program acceptable to the ADSA Board of Directors, OR b. An accredited Oral and Maxillofacial surgery residency. 


    4. In addition to the annual fee, Diplomates must participate in 12 hours of continuing education every two years.

  • WRITTEN EXAM CONTENT

    The Written Examination consists of 165 multiple-choice questions and three hours are allowed for completion.
